Lake County Wine Adventure One of Wine Country’s Biggest Events

May 1, 2015

The North Coast wine country’s most distinguished wineries will break out all the stops for the 11th annual Lake County Wine Adventure, May 15-17, 2015, in Lake County, California. What you think of as laid-back wine country will transform into “wine, live music, gourmet food and theme party” country, as 26 participating wineries throw simultaneous celebrations, with this year’s event scheduled for the milder-weather month of May. At just $45 for a two-day Lake County Wine Adventure passport, the Lake County Wine Adventure 2015 is a magnificent value for any wine enthusiast.
The weekend kicks off with a VIP gala the night of Friday, May 15, at the Castle Speakeasy. The Marymount Castle, itself a luxury hotel built during the Prohibition era, swings back to its identity of yesteryear with a 1930s-style swing band, an array of delicious appetizers and period attire encouraged for all attendees. Winemakers and principals will be on hand pouring their featured wines to showcase and preview their plans for the weekend. Tickets for this event are $55 in advance or can be purchased as part of a Combo ticket that includes the Castle Speakeasy event and a two-day Lake County Wine Adventure passport for just $100.
“This weekend is one of the premiere wine events of the year for Lake County,” Six Sigma Ranch & Winery winemaker Matt Hughes said. “It’s an opportunity to really see the best of every single winery and what they have to offer in one weekend. All of the wineries play up to their best varietals and pairings with food. A lot of them have bands, a lot of the wineries have DJs and dancing. It’s just a big passport weekend where you can really experience the best of all the wineries at once.”
The wineries have been planning for months according to Lake County Winery Association (LCWA) Director Terry Dereniuk. Dereniuk said “Adventurers have an opportunity to experience the wines, the terroir and learn more about the region while having a great adventure. Each location offers something different and many also host local specialty purveyors and artists. In 2014, we asked adventurers to vote for the best food, best hospitality, and best overall experience. Gregory Graham swept all three categories with his “baconfest”. I can’t wait to see what wineries come up with this year!”
A two-day Lake County Wine Adventure passport good for entry to all 26 wineries. Participants can start at one end of the Lake and work their way around or chart a course to visit just a few wineries to sample award winning wines and explore the region.
LCWA Chairman Dustin Fults, Fults Family Vineyard and Langtry Estate, noted “We encourage people to bring a designated driver. Designated Drivers get in free and will be able to enjoy the food and fun.” Designated drivers are given special neck lanyards to identify them as such, and are very well taken care of with additional treats and acknowledgements for their role in keeping the Lake County Wine Adventure a safe and fun experience for everyone.
Where else can you find three days of fabulous food, wine and live entertainment? At just $45 for a two-day passport, or $100 for a Combo ticket for all three days, the Lake County Wine Adventure offers a value beyond comparison and an unforgettable taste of the character and vintage of Lake County, California.
